Clearwire has introduced the iSpot, a mobile hotspot that lets you share a 4G connection with up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled Apple devices like the iPhone and iPad. The iSpot is on sale today, normally priced at $99, and works wherever there is Clear coverage, even in your car.
AT&T no longer offers unlimited data plans for the iPhone. If you are a mobile real estate professional that needs an unlimited data plan for your iPhone or iPad, the iSpot might be a good solution for you. With Clear you can get unlimited data usage and 4G speed all for $25/month.
This hotspot isn’t from Apple or AT&T. It’s from Clear and it’s 4G. So iSpot is fast to the core. Didn’t think your iPad™, iPhone®, or iPod touch® could get even better? Guess again, my friends, guess again.
The iSpot has a rechargeable battery and will work for four hours on a full charge. You don’t have to worry about security, it has Wi-Fi security (WEP, WPA WPA2) so you can password protect your hotspot and will provide coverage for up to 150 feet away.
The iSpot only works with Apple mobile devices. If you need to connect more than your iPhone or iPad you might need the Clear Spot 4G or Clear Spot 4G+.
The Clear Spot 4G that lets you connect up to 8 Wi-Fi devices, not just apple devices. The Clear Spot 4G only works on a 4G signal.
The Clear Spot 4G+ that lets you connect up to 5 Wi-Fi devices, not just apple devices. The Clear Spot 4G+ works on a 3G and 4G signal.
Clear has coverage in most major cities. They do not cover my area but do cover most of metro Atlanta with a 4G signal.
You can check their coverage HERE.
There are more options than ever before for mobile real estate professionals to always have an internet connection. REbliss has written about the Sprint Overdrive and Verizon’s MiFi before. Both let you connect up to 5 Wi-Fi devices.
I will not be purchasing a mobile hotspot anytime soon but find the shift towards mobile broadband fascinating. A device like the Clear Spot 4G or Sprint’s Overdrive might one day replace your office landline.
What if a real estate office took one of these devices to each open house? They could let all of the prospective home buyers connect to the 4G network and access more information about the house or download flyers. What if a builder carried a mobile hotspot with them when they visited the job site? They could access information about their subcontractors or digital plans and specs.
We produce and need access to more information every day.
Every two days now we create as much information as we did from the dawn of civilization up until 2003, according to Schmidt. That’s something like five exabytes of data, he says. via TechCruch.
That amount of information is astounding. Not only do we need access to this information, we need need access no matter where we are. A mobile hotspot from Clear, Spring, or Verizon could make sure we can always get to out data.
I have started to carry a laptop with me when I am out of the office. Do you carry a laptop with you? Would a mobile hotspot be beneficial to you or your business?
